A Buddhist library makes sense
The Europe Center for the Diamond Way Buddhism of our Karma Kagyu school will appear through Lama Ole Nydahl´s activity somewhere in the middle of Europe. Being the central network hot spot for the international cooperation of our over 500 centers and groups, the Europe Center naturally needs a library.
Why do we need a library
A collection of Buddhist texts has beneficial and purifying functions. By means of the library practitioners of all countries deepen their studies. The books are source and standard for the publications of our teachers. Scientists and journalists can check the literary origin of Buddhist statements.
Books are expensive
Many books that are indispensable in a good Buddhist library are out of print and thus either not available or only at a very high price. The mere quantity of preferable literature would increase the needed amount significantly. We do not have so much money. But as we all together are many people - who own altogether even a greater number of books - we invented a model that helps us collecting the base stock for the library at a reasonable price.
Collection of books
If many of us contribute some books to our Europe Center library, it will multiply the possibilities the individual books have - thus our library literally grows nearly casually and we can identify well with it as many contribute something.
The list of books
We made up a list of books that we want to collect for the library. On the following pages of our website we present the needed volumes. The list is being updated regularly. Books that have already been collected sufficiently will "disappear" from the site. Please let us also know your suggestions for literature that you miss in our list.
